CREATIVE MANITOBA 2009 CONFERENCE ♦ CONNECT THE CREATIVE CLASS
Thursday May 28, 2009 ♦ 8am to 5pm ♦ Radisson Downtown Winnipeg
A signature event for ACI Manitoba, The Creative Manitoba 2009 Conference will bring a wide range of arts and cultural delegates together for a day of networking and professional development. An industry display area will be featured in the heart of the conference activities. A broad range of arts disciplines and community members of various career stages, ranging from emerging artist to senior arts management will be represented.
Workshops will be facilitated by industry leaders from across Canada, the USA and Winnipeg. The unique nature of the day will allow for group interaction through a networking lunch and cocktail reception. Internationally recognized opening keynote speaker Lee Silber and a local speaker will address the community as a whole.
We are looking for volunteers for the following positions. Volunteers will receive a pass to the conference and a written reference upon request. High school students may request to have volunteer hours counted for graduation requirements.

REGISTRATION and OFFICE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (1 position)
Skill Requirements
Excellent written communication skills, ability to work with Excel, Word; experience with content management internet systems an asset. Organized; friendly and comfortable working with the public; able to take direction well and good at working under pressure.
Duties may include any or all of the following:
-Assist Registrar to process incoming registrations prior to conference
-Work a shift at the registration table on day of conference
-Produce nametags for delegates and presenters
-Compile and distribute registration packages
-Compile and distribute presenter packages
-Copy and collate workshop participant handout materials
-Carry out other duties as assigned
-Prepare and send press releases
-Prepare and send Public Service Announcements
-Distribute printed material
-Initiate and maintain communications regarding conference with outside organizations and with ACI Membership
-Prepare forms and packages for conference delegates, volunteer, presenters, and speakers
-Seek and maintain contact with print, radio, television media
-Other duties as assigned
This position will require working before the conference in the ACI office and at the registration table on the morning of the conference.

GREETERS and USHERS (4 positions)
Skill Requirements
Greeters and ushers must organized, neat and tidy in appearance and comfortable working with people in a helpful, professional and supportive manner. Be able to read and follow a schedule. This job may require long periods of standing at various stations.
Duties
-Meet volunteers, speakers and facilitators, the media, trade show participants and registrants as they arrive.
-Assist and direct people to events and appropriate areas/rooms.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT TEAM (2 positions)
Skill Requirements
Familiarity with audio visual equipment: LCD projectors, laptop computers, internet connections, P.A. set up, PowerPoint operation, cables, wires, microphones etc.
Ability to lift heavy equipment and troubleshoot
Duties
-Assist staff technicians with set up and tear down of audio visual equipment for workshops and speeches
-Move between sessions where needed
-Trouble shoot problems as they arise
-Other duties as assigned

TRANSPORT DRIVERS and HOSPITALITY (2 positions)
Skill Requirements
Must possess own vehicle, a valid Manitoba Driver’s license and insurance. Vehicles used to pick up guests and V.I.P.s must be clean and non-smoking please. Access to a van or truck is an asset for equipment moving. Equipment drivers must be able to lift heavy loads.
-Pick up and drop off out of town guests, V.I.P.’s at destinations as needed
-Transport equipment and materials to and from Radisson hotel
