Call for Proposals
Cinesonika: Call to Filmmakers, Video Artists & Sound Artists
September 01, 2010 to September 21, 2010
The theme of this international film and video festival is to celebrate the soundtrack. Usually in cinema festivals there is a fixation on movie stars, or captivating imagery, or the literary qualities of screenplays, or the abstract concepts of film theory. Sound tends to be relatively unvalorized in moving-image making. The intent of the festival is to give attention to innovative work in the creation of film and video soundtracks, and to give due credit to the importance of audio in audiovisual media.
This first annual festival will showcase international works of film and video with fascinating soundtracks, idiosyncratic sound design, eclectic scoring and innovative approaches to the sound-image relationship.
Festival Dates:
Nov. 12th-21st, 2010
Location:
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Submission Deadline: September 1st, 2010

OakStockMusic: Call to Composers & Musicians
December 31, 2010
(ongoing call for submissions)
Kirk Smith is inviting his fellow composers who want an opportunity to sell their music for use in ads, films or TV to submit their music to his “stock music” website, oakstockmusic.com.
Smith says that composers from all over the world – including the U.S., UK, Brazil, Israel, the Netherlands and beyond - have already submitted their music to his website, including professional composers with extensive credits in film and TV.
“Stock music is a win-win for producers and for composers,” said Smith, “Producers get the music they want without the hassle of licensing, and just as important, artists get paid for their work.”
Smith’s website offers multiple versions of tracks (short, medium and long) for $20 a download. Composers get a substantial share of each of their tracks that are purchased, and if the music is used in broadcast, they may get additional on-going royalty payments as well.
