Campground Production & Projects Assistant

Winnipeg Folk Festival

We are looking for a motivated, energetic, and fun person to join the summer staff of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. This position works within the Production Department (aka Team Git ‘Er Done).

Job Summary: Reporting to the Campground Production & Projects Coordinator, the Campground Production & Projects Assistant has responsibility for the coordination and supervision of aspects of the Winnipeg Folk Festival campgrounds, the Young Artists Program and the Bike Ride to the Festival. This position provides support critical to the pre-production and setup of the campground site, production during the event and tear down following the event. Other duties include program administration, purchasing for the campground production, working with volunteers, attending planning meetings and writing a follow-up report.

Duties:

• Assist with organizing, distribution and inventory of production supplies and equipment.
• Organize list of supply requests from volunteer crews.
• Assist with getting supply quotes and placing orders.
• Prepare information sheets, training manuals and other documents for distribution to volunteer coordinators and campers.
• Work with campground food vendors, animators and volunteers.
• Assist with greening initiatives including composting & recycling programs, Bike Ride to the Festival.
• Help administer & coordinate the Young Artists Program.

Qualifications:

• Interest in event management or arts and culture management.
• Project management skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Creative and resourceful problem solver.
• Strong communication skills (written & verbal).

Desirables

• Experience camping at the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
• Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
• Physically fit and able to lift 40 lbs.
