Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager, Facility Services, the Facilities Project Coordinator is the primary contact for project activities as assigned within the group. This position is responsible for coordination of project requirements, design elements, scope definition related to construction and other projects, coordination of budgetary and detailed proposals and general planning of project activities, such as new construction, renovations or other Facilities projects for the CMHR, and will ensure that work is carried out to approved standards and specifications. Provide assistance to the R & C team on contemporary human rights experiences internationally. Gather data and information, and administer requests for information to other organizations, including producing summaries and reports, as required.

Discusses project requirements with internal clients, coordinates technical design information, develops and reviews drawings, assists with contract specifications and assists with management of methods of construction, work schedules, costs, materials, quality control etc..

Acts as liaison with architects, engineers, landscape architects, consultants and general contractors. Attends job site meetings to resolve construction problems and monitors the progress of the work;

Coordinates and reviews technical designs and information

Analyzes project needs and creates/updates budgets

Writes reports on the progress of projects noting the details of and reasons for certain actions, such as the handling of a project or contract.

Administers construction contracts by issuing site instructions, issuing change orders and other general terms of reference of the contracts, as approved by appropriate delegate of authority within the CMHR.

Discusses project terms, conditions and requirements with the Manager, Facility Services and represents the interests of the CMHR in liaising with outside partners to ensure work is progressing in accordance with agreements.

Recommends changes in construction methods, materials or techniques due to the site conditions, scheduling problems etc.

Establishes various projects’ scopes of work.

Provides relevant information to consultants including drawings, specifications and related policies at the start and during the life of the project

Ongoing maintenance and update of Facility As Built information across multiple platforms.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge – Required
-
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry with exposure mainly to the architectural, electrical and mechanical trades in new construction and in modifications to existing buildings, or a combination of education, training and experience in a related field.

Experience with spatial information management technology and development of technical specifications and drawings.

Demonstrated ability to develop and work from sketches, oral or written instructions.

Demonstrated experience in solving problems within a project framework by making collaborative decisions.

Strategic thinker.

Experience in coordinating, planning and assisting with the execution of projects.
