Content Development Assistant (Term – 1.5 years)

Responsibilities
The Content Development Assistant supports the development and delivery of content elements (texts, scripts, and images) for museum exhibits. Reporting to the Director, Learning & Programming, this position supports the Content Development Facilitator by providing project coordination and the organizational, and administrative assistance required to ensure that content elements are produced, approved and delivered according to schedule and in line with Museum standards.

Coordinate meetings, presentations, reports and approval processes, producing agendas, notes, and other related documentation.

Coordinate and monitor workflows for the production of a very large number of distinct content elements (primarily text and scripts) to ensure the timely completion of content for exhibitions. Workflows involve numerous steps of development, review and approval in both English and French versions.

Liaise with staff from several different Museum departments and with outside contractors involved with content development and delivery.

Flag issues that need to be resolved to the Senior Coordinator.

Regularly review task schedules, gallery schedules, exhibits schedules, with the Senior Coordinator, Content Development, Design Coordinator, New Media Coordinator, Image Coordinator and Master Project Scheduler.

Review deliverables for completeness and adherence to Museum standards.

Track the review and approval process.

Initiate and maintain project documentation and reporting, including tracking systems and filing.

Maintain accurate records of meetings and electronic meetings through written notes.

Keep team members informed by circulating team meeting minutes and providing verbal briefings.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge – Required
-
Post-secondary education at the diploma level and minimum 3 years of experience with content development for a Canadian museum or cultural initiative (such as a film, website, periodical) or equivalent education and experience.

Proven experience working with project files, coordinating the development and delivery of tasks on schedule.

Proven experience working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver concrete deliverables on schedule and budget.

Experience in managing projects in a bilingual environment where all content has to be produced in both English and French.

Experience in developing and managing overlapping project schedules

Excellent reading ability in both English and French.
Skills and Knowledge – Desired

Ability to communicate in both official languages, oral and written

Knowledge of the Museum sector and standard norms and practices in terms of content presentation in a public institution

Knowledge of interpretive and media writing techniques

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Work is in an office environment. May require long periods at a desk, reading of lengthy documents, and time in front of a computer in an open office environment.

Additional work environments include the museum exhibit space, building construction sites and contractor workplaces
