Web Development Project Manager

The Canadian Coalition of Media Art Distributors

POSITION DESCRIPTION       

The Canadian Coalition of Media Art Distributors (CCMAD) is made up of 11 independent, not-for-profit media art distributors across Canada. The coalition exists to facilitate and increase media art distribution throughout Canada and internationally on behalf of professional Canadian media artists and their work.

The coalition of distributors will embark on the creation of a shared electronic distribution platform to represent the entirety of Canada’s independent media arts community. The scope of the project will include the digitization of each organization’s catalogue of film, video, audio and new media artwork; a large scale data merger from the catalogues of all 11 organizations into one searchable database; and the design and development of a website with multiple components including e-commerce. The project will also include coalition identity and website branding and marketing.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Project Manager will liaise with CCMAD and the project advisory committee to ensure the project adheres to the goals of the project’s critical path.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency to:

•  Create a critical path for the project.
•  Assist the advisory committee with engaging third party vendors best suited to the project deliverables, and drafting RFQ’s for circulation
• Manage the relationship between CCMAD and 3rd party development provider(s). Provide daily guidance, and prioritize all work and business activities for this external team.
• Ensure the seamless execution of each stage of the digitization, design, and development of the platform on behalf of CCMAD.
• Liaise with each of the 11 distribution organizations to ensure compliancy on deliverables as agreed by CCMAD
• Execute all administrative functions pertaining to the project including reporting, budget management, and team management
• Create and manage timelines, track deliverables, and proactively follow-up with all partners to ensure adherence to deadlines.
• Perform Quality Assurance testing and approval process guidance on the launch of the new development
• Assist with content development for website
• Support the website administration on behalf of CCMAD through launch phase to full functionality

The accomplished individual will possess:

• Relevant education/training or past work experience
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in e-commerce/web development project management
• A high degree of digital experience, with the ability to grasp the different aspects of website workings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English
• An ability to effectively prioritize efforts and anticipate business needs
• A great degree of experience acting decisively in critical business situations
• Experience managing direct reports
• Strong leadership skills
• Success in multi-tasking with attention to detail
• Effective troubleshooting skills; the ability to overcome obstacles to complete a project

This position requires the individual to work independently from a home office communications with advisory committee will be mainly via Skype and email. The length of the project is undetermined, with a three month immediate part-time requirement.
