Art is about light and time.
Dawn light traveling over the day becoming moonlight.
We grow and change.
Things that are transparent become opaque.
It is all about time.
The time of day, time of life, how little or great the time.
Kathleen Black is a painter, sculptor and glass worker. As a child she was encouraged to paint on walls by her parents. Cool parents,eh?! She continued her education in Glass at Alberta College of Art and Design, Red Deer College and Visual Art at the University of Manitoba.
She was the only Manitoban accepted into the Glass Art Association of Canada Juried Show "Lucent". A glass piece was accepted by the Manitoba Craft Council for the 2011 Annual Juried Show. She has been recognized locally for her glass sculptures and her work is represented at the West End Gallery in Victoria, B.C., in Alberta and most importantly here at home in Manitoba at the Medea Artists Collective and Pulse Gallery at the Johnson Terminal.
Visit her studio during the In Plain View Winnipeg Studio Tours on June 4 and 5, 2011.
