Ron Lamoureux is the president of WhirlWind Media Group, a
digital media company that creates and maintains 3D interactive, immersive online and mobile media applications including virtual tours for the real estate, educational, entertainment, sports, health care, publishing, tourism, and travel industries. The company has created applications for organizations in Paris, Berlin, Monaco, and Costa Rica. However, the majority of its work is supporting companies and organizations in its home base of Winnipeg. As such, it has just completed an interactive virtual walkthrough for the Winnipeg Foundation. At the moment, the company is creating online applications for upcoming developments in the city of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
As the director of The Worx Gallery, a digital media, music, and educational/and training company, Ron offers consulting services, workshop management, the production of educational and training videos, and music production for local and international artists. At the moment, the Worx Gallery is playing an integral role in assisting the CHRC in developing competency analyses and training gaps analyses for the digital media content creators in Canada.
Ron is also the creator of an animated series entitled The Adventures of Little Robert, at the heart of which is a very creative, imaginative of a boy of seven who lives in a house with his older brother. Little Robert speaks to an imagined audience, but invariably is interrupted by his brother who walks in on him on a regular basis. A passionate discussion always follows that reveals Robert’s intellectual, articulate, and comedic side. Episode themes include Colouring, Smooth Jazz, Chicken Licking, Cows, Planes, Friends, and Playing the Ganjo. The Adventures of Little Robert, managed by Floating Lounge Entertainment, is currently available online as part of the first Series, with links to FaceBook, Twitter, and Vimeo amongst other social networking sites. A full-length movie treatment has been created with the script being developed under the title Little Robert and The Emerald Amulet.
Ron sat on numerous Canadian provincial and national committees including the Cultural Human Resources Council based in Ottawa. Additionally he served as the first sound recording officer for the Manitoba Cultural Industries Development Office, as the sound recording consultant for the Canadian National Department of Communications, and as a member of the editorial board for the Virtual Museum of Canada.
As the founder and first president of MARIA, the Manitoba Audio Recording Industry Association, now Manitoba Music, Ron organized Manitoba’s first sound recording industry conference. His interest in music and interactive media has provided him the opportunity to share his expertise as a consultant in diverse communities ranging from Rankin Inlet in Nunavut to Paris, France. As a new media consultant and project manager, he has produced and assisted in the production of a variety of new media products including 2D and 3D interactive web sites, applications and videos for local and international companies.
“I’ve taken a lot of risks in my life, but I honestly believe that without risk there is limited creativity and no true innovation,” says Ron.
“As James Joyce so aptly stated, Life is to be lived, not criticized,” he adds. “That pretty much summarizes why I do what I do.”
