The Gimli Film Festival celebrates 10 years in 2010. Presenting over 80 Canadian and International film screenings in feature, documentary and short categories. Attending local and international filmmakers will add excitement to the program of exceptional, thought-provoking films. In addition to three indoor venues, film enthusiasts can view movies from the beach on a 11 metre screen in the water.

The festival will continue to showcase and support independent filmmaking in all genres. The 2010 programming will include Short Film Programs, our Circumpolar Program,
our Documentary Program in addition to the most recent Canadian feature films.

At the forefront of the festival’s programming is the second year of the “Insight Series” (formally Vision Series). The Burns Family Foundation presents this series, which offers insight into the complete process of filmmaking. The intricacies of production, cinematography, sound and design will be examined. A team of key people involved in the highlighted Canadian film will participate in discussions, interviews and Q & A sessions with all audiences and mentoring sessions with emerging filmmakers.

The Best Film Award will be introduced at the 2010 festival; the jury will honour the director of their favourite narrative or documentary feature-length film. The first annual My Gimli Short Film Contest will be presented this year and awards are also presented for the Canwest Best Manitoba Short Film, Best Short Film for Artistic Achievement, and Audience Favourites.
