Dear Peggy: New Winnipeg Folklore with hannah_g

February 23, 2012

The Manitoba Historical Society Dalnavert Museum presents hannah_g
"Dear Peggy: New Winnipeg Folklore"

Thursday 23rd February
7:00 pm doors | 7:30 pm performance
$10
Please contact the Dalnavert Museum for booking information: 943 2835 | bookings@mhs.mb.ca

Why do Winnipeggers always flick two pennies into the water when crossing the Redwood Bridge? Ever heard of the Gimli Ice Dances? On which of the rivers might the buttons on your jacket pop off unexpectedly? All will be revealed when The Dalnavert Museum proudly presents a performance by hannah_g to celebrate the book and tape launch of Dear Peggy, a limited edition collection of her stories.

Over the last three years, hannah has created folklore in response to some of the places, people, and objects she has happened upon in Winnipeg. Melancholy, absurd, credible, and wry: the stories reflect the character of a city she has come to love despite herself.

hannah_g gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Manitoba Arts Council for this project.

Places are limited and advance booking is strongly recommended.

About the Dalnavert Museum:
The Dalnavert Museum is Winnipeg’s hub for all things Victorian. This 1895 home of Sir Hugh John Macdonald is a
Municipal, Provincial, and National Historic Site that interprets the history of the Macdonald household and the social
history of early Winnipeg and the late Victorian era through public programs and exhibits. Fully restored in the early
1970s, Dalnavert stands as a splendid example of Queen Anne Revival architecture. The interior of the home is decorated to give visitors an immersive experience in the lives of staff and family in an upper-middle class Winnipeg home near the turn of the 20th century.
