Advanced Grant Writing Summer Intensive

Time: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Coffee breaks and working lunch [including vegan and vegetarian options] will be provided)

Location: Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts
205-211 Bannatyne Avenue
Winnipeg, MB R3B 3P2

Cost: $35 for ACI Members; $60 for non members (includes one year individual membership to ACI)

Registration Deadline: August 22, 2011by emailing Lisa at admin@creativemanitoba.ca or by filling out the registration form and returning it to ACI.

Prerequisite: Must have submitted an application for at least one grant in the past five years.

The Advanced Grant Writing Summer Intensive aims to help artists and arts presenters increase their chances of obtaining funding through grant writing skills development, thereby increasing artistic output in Manitoba. Participants will have access to discipline-specific advanced instruction, coaching and resources, and learn advanced grant writing techniques, project management tips and tools, budget development and management, and marketing plan development.

Some seminars will be broken down into seven discipline-specific small groups for the dance, theatre, writing & publishing, inter-arts / interdisciplinary arts, visual arts & crafts, music and film / video / media arts sectors

Schedule of Events:
Morning Seminar A (everyone):

  • Advanced Persuasive Grant and Proposal Writing Technique

Morning Seminar B (discipline-specific):

  • How to write strong Artist Statements/Statements of Intent
  • What goes into an effective Artist CV or Past Projects and Activities section
  • Review examples of the above sections of successful grant applications
  • Peer support/constructive criticism
  • What you need to know about Supporting Material – formats, presentation etc.

Afternoon Seminar C (discipline-specific):

  • Budget Development
  • Managing Cash Flow
  • Budget Q&A

Afternoon Seminar D (discipline-specific):

  • Developing your marketing plan
  • General Q & A
