Learn how to develop a business plan to sell your graphic novel project. From marketing to distribution, finance to legal, bring your questions and find ways to make money writing and illustrating graphic novels. Join GMB Chomichuk and John Toone, authors and illustrator of The Imagination Manifesto trilogy, for an insider's look at the comic industry, including strategies for social networking, comic conventions, and e-commerce. Writers and visual artists interested in publishing comics, graphic novels, children's books, manga and art books are encourage to attend.
Instructors: GMB Chomichuk and John Toone
GMB Chomichuk is a Canadian writer, teacher, mixed media artist, graphic novelist and proud Winnipegger. He won the Manitoba Young Writers Award when he was 15, and the Manitoba Book Award for Best Illustrated Book in 2011 for his graphic novel serial The Imagination Manifesto. He is the founder of Alchemical Press and is always on the lookout for literary oddities. He puts words and pictures together. His art work has been exhibited in galleries both in Canada and the US and most recently at the pop up show at the Manitoba Children's Museum and regularly at River City Ink and Steel.
John Toone’s first book of poetry, From Out of Nowhere, was published by Turnstone Press in 2009. He is a partner in Alchemical Press, publishers of graphic novels like The Imagination Manifesto trilogy, and literary oddities such as Call * Response: Past, Present & Beyond, a book about youth and Winnipeg's punk music scene. John’s third book for children is a collaboration with Bubba B of HOT103 and will be released in 2013.
