Summer Student – Community Investment

United Way Winnipeg

Term: May 4 – August 28, 2015

As a Summer Student in our Community Investment department, you will be part of the 50th Anniversary team, providing assistance as required to current and emerging engagement projects and programs. The position will also support special projects as required. Specifically, the Summer Student will work closely with staff of various United Way programs to:

  • Assist with event planning, management, delivery, and wrap up
  • Coordinate aspects of programming for 50th anniversary and other United Way events
  • Provide back up for Community Investment department managers
  • Help promote opportunities for community involvement in the work of United Way
  • Keep updated records
  • Work with colleagues to determine internal project needs and requirements including timelines, resources and required supports

You possess energy and enthusiasm, an ability to think broadly and address details, strong communication and writing skills, and a commitment to strengthening our city.

You also have:

  • Partially completed or attained relevant post-secondary degree/diploma
  • Experience supporting and/or coordinating programs and events
  • Strong time management skills combined with excellent attention to detail and problem solving abilities
  • Comfortable with technology; proficient in MS Word & Excel
  • Dynamic and outgoing personality combined with the ability to collaborate closely with staff and volunteers
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible schedule – available to work early mornings, later evenings, and occasional weekends
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
