Facility Manager

Creative Manitoba

Job title: Facility Manager
Reports to: Executive Director

Position summary
The Facility Manager, under the supervision of the Executive Director will be responsible for managing the needs of the Creative Manitoba unique shared workspace – overseeing both the communication and administrative needs of Creative Manitoba programming and the shared space rentals. This position supports critical interaction between staff and members, tenants and facility renters, as well as the general public. The Facility Manager works with and directs team members within the Communications and Administration areas of Creative Manitoba supporting staff, programs, and office activities while managing the shared work and event spaces.

Primary responsibilities
The Facility Manager is responsible for management, maintenance, upgrading and oversight of Creative Manitoba facilities and shared space rentals along with the responsibility for internal communications, IT and administrative infrastructure. The Facility Manager works as team lead with the Office and Member Services Manager and Communications Manager.

The Facility Manager will be responsible for managing and performing duties in the following areas:

  • Shared Space Rental and House Management
  • Office Administration and Reception Services
  • Supplies, Office Equipment and Maintenance Coordination
  • IT and A/V equipment, software acquisition, maintenance and set-up
  • Promoting, educating, and acquiring venues for SpaceFinder Manitoba
  • Upgrading and developing spaces at Creative Manitoba

Secondary responsibilities

  • Providing oversight of the following functions:
    • External Communications, Webinars and Websites
    • Internal Communications systems including database
    • Membership strategy development and deployment
  • Working with the ED on organizational strategy and development
  • Supporting activities such as the Creative Cluster Strategy
  • Assisting in internal systems and HR development
  • Planning and organizing of networking activities and Meetups
    • e.g.: First Fridays, WordPress, tenant gatherings, Culture Days events
  • Curating and installing a rotating selection of artists’ works in the Creative Manitoba space

Knowledge and skills required

  • 5 years’ experience in Manitoba’s arts and creative industries
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Experience in office administration / management
  • Ability to use a variety of computer software and web based applications
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Marketing and sales experience preferred

Employment conditions

  • 35 hours per week with variable schedule. Typical hours 9 AM to 4:30 PM with one half hour unpaid lunch break and 2-15 minute paid coffee breaks
  • Evenings and weekend work will be required – time off in lieu provided- hours scheduled outside of the regular 9 to 4:30 work day will be scheduled in advance

  • Creative Manitoba staff are eligible for Extended Health and Dental Benefits – 50 % of the cost of these benefits will be paid by Creative Manitoba.
