First Fridays THROB OFF!
Game & Photo Exhibit + Character Performances

Time: 5-9pm
Location: Large classroom, 400-245 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg
Free

Throb Off!, created by Sarah London and Solmund MacPherson, is a satirical take on the hit 80s board game Heartthrob, almost a parody unto itself. It was created for Rowan Sparling’s 18th birthday, and was a smash hit. Originally destined to be played once and forgotten, it was revitalized when the character portraits featured in the game caught Thomas Sparling’s eye, prompting the proposal of a photo show. That idea grew until it became what it is today, with select portraits taken by Solmund MacPherson being put on display alongside performances by some of the beautiful people featured in the game, copies of which will also be available to play or purchase. Dress up in your finest 80s attire and be prepared to have a good time. See the photos, meet the characters, and play the game.

Solmund MacPherson is a writer, filmmaker, and photographer. Throb Off! is his first foray into portraits, having done primarily theatre and architectural photography in the past. He has worked as both a freelance and contracted photographer/videographer for the past year. He recently wrapped up filming two short films, The Idol and Perspective, with Dirtbag Philosophy Films, the production company he co-founded. He has started pre-production for several more projects, including a short that is to be shot in early April for the 96 Hour Youth Film Challenge, and another short to be shot in Arizona entitled Havilah. He’s thrilled to have such a playful theme for his first show, and would like to thank ACI for generously hosting, in particular, Thomas Sparling for his heavy involvement in making the show a reality.
