Grant Writing w/ Bev Pike
Friday, Feb 10th, 2-5 pm

Bev Pike has raised millions of dollars in art funding as a grant writer for artists and organizations since 1984. As an artist, she has received senior arts grants from the Winnipeg Arts Council, Manitoba Arts Council and Canada Council. Pike is known for her large-scale land-form paintings, her videos and her artist-books that have been shown across Canada in solo and group exhibitions. Her works are held in the Tate Modern and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England as well as in public and private collections across North America. Pike’s current artistic research includes performative landscape, underground shell grottoes and other Baroque spectacles.

Law Advice for Artists w/ Andrew Buck
Friday, Feb 17, 1-4 pm

Andrew has a business law practice, with a focus on electronic commerce issues. He provides guidance about online delivery of goods and services, privacy and access to information, anti-spam law compliance and intellectual property control and capitalization.

His practice also includes a significant research and analysis component. Andrew advises clients on a variety of issues, creates policies and advocates on behalf of his clients, to help them respond to their legal challenges and opportunities. Andrew received his law degree from the University of Manitoba in 2009, and was awarded the University Gold Medal for the highest standing in the Bachelor of Laws program. He was called to the Bar in 2010.

Studio Visits w/ Hannah Godfrey (Ace Art)
Monday, Feb. 20th, 1-4 pm

Join Hannah Godfrey - curator and director of Ace Art - in this artist's studio visit. Talk to Hannah about your practice, art theory, how to apply to gallery shows, and how to get involved as a curator. Hannah is a writer, contemporary storyteller, inter-disciplinary artist, mixtape-laptop DJ, and designer. She is interested in collectivity, place-making, and recollection.

Headshots & Photography w/ Leif Norman

**PLEASE NOTE** : Included in this coaching session the participant will get a complimentary headshot in addition to being able to consult with Leif. Therefore, this coaching session ONLY costs $40 for the half-hour.

Leif Norman is an all-purpose commercial photographer for Winnipeg’s Arts and Culture scene. He shoots portraits and headshots; dance and theatre; festivals and events. He is also the executive director of Winnipeg’s Flash Photographic Festival.

In addition to being an active musician, Shane also works for MKM Management Services, which provides high-quality business management, finance, accounting & income tax services for artists, entertainers, & small biz, specializing in the music industry.

Marketing & Branding w/ David Pensato

David Pensato has worked as a communications professional for nearly a decade. In that time he has established himself as a hard-working, client-focused and innovative thinker in a broad range of public and private sectors. Specializing in “interactive brand and strategy”, David has consistently developed innovative approaches for integrating online with offline marketing, engagement, and interaction. Prior to branching out as an independent brand strategist and marketing consultant in 2009, David served as Director of Communications for McNally Robinson Booksellers and as an Account Executive and Strategist for an award-winning boutique interactive firm.

Areas of expertise:

  • Branding and brand strategy (the overarching brand expression)
  • Marketing plans (campaigns, resources, setting and reaching marketing goals)
  • Content marketing / planning (development of content over time in service of the brand strategy or marketing plans, language, messaging, press releases, promotional materials)
