“Dancing can reveal all the mystery that music conceals.” – Charles Baudelaire

Exceptional performers. Eight dances: each a world of its own.

Toronto-based, Guest Choreographer, Marie-Josée Chartier, creates a dynamic visual score which enraptures both our eyes and our ears.

Set to the powerful music of Linda C. Smith, Rodney Sharman, James Tenney and Nick Storring, Chartier invites us to witness how movement transforms music and vice versa, inviting us to see the beauty, intimacy and complexity of each composition.

As we visualize the music through the dancers' bodies, each dance becomes a short story crafted by Chartier's contemporary imagination.

Performers include: Guest Artist from Toronto -  Darryl Tracy, Winnipeg dancers - Krista Nicholson, Jillian Groening, Hélène Le Moullec Mancini, Elise Page, Carol-Ann Bohrn, Jessica Southgate, Camila Schujman, Natasha Torres-Garner, Aaron Paul, Shawn Maclaine, Mark Dela Cruz, Philippe Alexandre-Jacques, Arne MacPherson and Eric Blais.

Gearshifting Performance Works' feature presentation is an annual, anticipated event for the contemporary dance community.
petites danses is a unique project as it is the first time the company has presented work by a Guest Choreographer for an ensemble of dancers. petites danses features our largest cast of performers to date.
